Breathe Life into Every Position
Holding a balance should never be stagnant. When you take any still position and balance it you must grow with the pose. This means you reach in opposite directions for suspension. For example: In arabesque your toes should reach back, your fingers reach forward , the top of your head reaches up and your standing leg reaches down; rooting your strength to the ground. All this opposition becomes your suspension of the balance and all of a sudden the position no longer looks stagnant but comes alive with interest and energy.
