Play to Play, Not to Win

"A game that can't be won, only played." - The Legend of Bagger Vance.  The same holds true for ballet, as it does for most things in life. Play well by mastering the details. Ballet is all about the perfection of details. However, even with all your best effort you need to keep an understanding that you will never be perfect. This way you continue to strive. It other words, don't believe you have arrived simply because you were perfect once. Each movement, each performance, each day will offer you new challenges. Perfection should come as a surprise, or reward for a job well done, not an expectation of it. Be in the game to play, not to win, and you will surprise yourself with consistent achievements.
